Amy Jeffers, Therapist, Inner Courage Counseling

Amy earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with specialization in working with children and adolescents, from Lewis University in 2020.  Amy’s areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, parenting, women’s issues, life transitions, behavioral modification, social skills training, self-compassion, and LGBTQ+/identity issues.

Counseling provides a wonderful opportunity for healing and personal growth and as a counselor who serves children, adolescents, adults, and couples, I am honored to be a part of this important and restorative process for clients of all ages.  I believe that regardless of one’s age or situation, everyone has the underlying desire to feel heard and understood, and my goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore, grow, heal, and learn new strategies to tackle challenges and improve their quality of life.  I strive to combine clinical knowledge and life experience in my counseling approach, often drawing from the unique perspective I have gained in my work as a preschool and early childhood educator and active volunteer supporting families in my community.  My style is relaxed, warm, and empathetic, and I aim to make clients feel comfortable and validated as we navigate the issues that have brought them into counseling.

As a therapist, I focus on developing supportive working relationships with clients rooted in collaboration and empathic understanding, and because no two people are alike, I tailor my therapeutic approach to the unique needs of each client.  I most commonly use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Adlerian, mindfulness-based, and play-based approaches in my clinical work and customize counseling activities with awareness of each client’s specific abilities, strengths, and goals.  I continually evaluate the changing wants and needs of my clients and adapt accordingly, focusing on meeting individuals where they are and helping them get to where they want to be.  Additionally, because personal and professional growth are important to me, I am dedicated to pursuing ongoing education to ensure I am providing my clients with the most appropriate, up-to-date, and informed care possible.

Although I have specialized experience in treating children and adolescents, particularly those presenting with anxiety or behavioral issues, I also enjoy working with adult clients, including women struggling with motherhood, grief, or major life transitions. and individuals facing parenting-related challenges.  Additionally, I enjoy working with couples who are hoping to enhance their ability to communicate more effectively and increase their connection in a healthy and meaningful way.  Wherever my clients are on their journey through life, I am eager to provide the customized and unconditional therapeutic support they deserve.

Making the decision to begin counseling can be both intimidating and overwhelming, but please know I am here to walk alongside you throughout the process.  Counseling can be a truly transformative experience and I look forward to joining you or your loved one on this journey.

"When getting in touch with someone to find a therapist I was emailed by Stacy Ramirez, she was very kind and helpful which was appreciated because I have never seen a therapist so I was unsure of the process. I had my first session with Beth Halterman, she made sure to introduce herself before the first session which i thought was very sweet because I was a bit nervous about seeking a therapist to begin with and seeing someone face to face for the first time without having ever spoken before would have made me a bit more nervous."

"Inner Courage Counseling has a lovely building that's warm and clean. My counselor was so good that when she started at Inner Courage I moved practices so I could stay with her. I would absolutely recommended them to anyone seeking counseling."

"I have always been hesitant about counseling especially when it involves my daughter. But I have to say Brittany Roback is absolutely amazing. My daughter has been seeing Brittany for about 6 months now and I have seen great improvements. Just after the first session I saw my daughter using skills Brittany had shown her. Brittany has always made sure to make my daughter and myself feel comfortable. My daughter sees it as a safe place when she sees Brittany."

"Inner Courage Counseling has really been there for me from the moment I first called and they continue to be. I have always struggled to find a counselor that I mesh well with and one that creates an environment that I feel encouraged to dedicate time for myself. I’ve learned things about myself that I never knew before and I’m excited because I know I will continue to. I truly feel like I am growing in a positive way after each session. That’s both exciting and encouraging for me."
