Jaime is a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated from Lewis University in 2021 specializing in treatment of children and adolescents, ages 6-16. She has experience as a Genetic Counseling Intern and Behavioral Technician working with those who have genetic disorders, developmental disorders, intellectual disabilities, and cognitive delays. This has strengthened Jaime’s passion for working with those with Autism and other developmental disorders. Although this is her specialty, Jaime has also worked with individuals who have depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, behavioral issues, self-esteem, ADHD, anger issues, adjustment issues, peer relationships, and stress.
Social skills training, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Play Therapy have been used with these populations in her practice in order to dig a little deeper to explore thoughts and the feelings and behaviors that follow. Jaime relies on social skills training to help children in areas such as forming meaningful, long lasting, relationships; identifying needs; expressing feelings; problem solving skills; and communication skills. The other theories she incorporates into sessions will help children to identify their negative thoughts, dispute these thoughts, and replace them with positive, more realistic thoughts in order to create better reactions in any given situation. It is Jaime’s belief that we all already possess the skills and strength to cope with these perceived negative situations. However, she will be there to help your child uncover it for themselves in order to better cope with discovering life in an inviting environment.
Jaime has a strong belief in our unique individualization as humans. “I believe that we all deserve a specialized treatment based on our own specific wants and needs, no matter what the reason for coming to therapy is. I believe this starts with building a safe, comfortable, therapeutic relationship in order to accomplish goals your child has now and for the future. I value our time spent together and so I genuinely look forward to the growth from this journey we will take alongside each other.” -Jaime Langosch
