“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Nelson Mandela
I characterize myself as comforting, patient, and sarcastic. Outside of counseling I love spending time with my family and friends and of course, snuggling with my pets. One of my favorite hobbies is cooking or baking and sharing this yummy food with my loved ones to all enjoy together.
I can help clients by creating a comfortable environment from which they can feel free to share whatever they feel comfortable sharing. I have a gentle approach and often use humor to create a relaxed environment for my clients. I focus on making the client feel validated and heard each session because so often people do not believe that their feelings and experiences are valid. I have a passion for working with trauma and work with adults, teens and children who have experienced trauma. Additionally, I work a great deal with people coping with anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties. Through building off of client’s internal strengths in counseling, my goal is for clients to leave counseling feeling better overall and empowered to be able to support and advocate for themselves. Aside from theories of counseling, I tend to focus on exploring helpful coping skills, healthy relationships, and providing education to my clients to provide them with the tools so that they feel confident in their ability to support themselves through difficult times. When working with children or teenagers, I hope to help their parents feel supported as they support their child’s journey. I hope that my clients walk away from each session feeling supported and that they can be honest about what is working and not working for them!
