    How I Help my Clients:

I characterize myself as compassionate, non-judgmental, and intuitive.  Outside of counseling I enjoy getting lost in a good book, doing yoga and spending time with my dog.

In my work with clients, I strive to develop a therapeutic relationship so that each individual feels heard, accepted, and supported. I would offer reflective listening to clarify perspectives and assess the needs of the client. In gaining additional insight, I will incorporate techniques and approaches that would assist the client in their identifying their goals, personal development, and growth. I foster an empathic and nonjudgmental outlook when working with clients. I believe there is always something that can be taken away whether a small piece of advice or a shift in one’s perspective. For couples, I’d utilize Narrative therapy in an effort to identify that separation between the issue and the persons involved. I would work with the couple to highlight skills and methods that may allow them to change the story as it was viewed in the past to work towards a different perspective of self. For those experiencing perinatal or identity issues, I would work on building self-esteem and confidence. I would incorporate approaches that align with ACT that are more person-centered with the integration of some mindfulness practices. I can assist by offering educational support on mental health concerns, improving communication and coping skills and emphasizing the promotion of behavioral changes and habits that can be applied one’s to daily life.
